This project was a purpose-design and build for nationwide car rental business, Snap Rentals – our client’s tenant. For this project, we found ourselves working yet again on a challenging, tight site on Glenda Drive in Frankton, Queenstown. With several other rental car buildings in our portfolio, we created a design that gave the Snap team confidence to sign a lease off the plans.

We designed this purpose-built rental car facility for Snap Rentals to suit a tight site in Frankton’s industrial zone. Managing the flow of vehicles for a rental business, plus having client services and a reception area added to the challenge.

There were a few safety components to this already fiddly build in addition to the business’ functional requirements. A retaining wall – that had to retain the land behind the building – and the fire rating regulations, meant quite a bit of careful planning went into this relatively small build.

Tuatara custom-designed this building for Snap, who then signed a lease with the developers based on our plans.

The final purpose-design and build project featured a large canopy to protect the staff from inclement weather, a must for the Queenstown climate. We also incorporated a drive-through to clean, detail, and get the vehicles prepared for Snap’s clients.
