Tuatara Structures was engaged through Colliers Queenstown to develop concept plans for Plumbing World’s new Frankton retail showroom. The design had to align with Plumbing World’s brand guidelines, while also fitting within the QLDC’s strict district planning rules.
Our first challenge was that of physical distance. We had to work with Australia-based Property Developers for the design and construction of this retail showroom, warehouse, and offices for the new Queenstown Plumbing World. We worked hard to overcome this challenge by using technology to our advantage. We also enjoyed the chance to think outside the box when it came to client presentations.
A second, notable challenge for this project was the attention to detail required to achieve site-ratio efficiency. We had to consider the nature of the site location, building use, and size of the site. The design had to be well-thought-out and astute to incorporate all of the client’s requirements, while also meeting local District Council specifications.
The final 900m2 design maximized site coverage; managing to incorporate the mixed-use building, a commercial loading zone with canopy cover, and a functional retail car park.
The retail showroom features exterior stonework columns and this turn-key project included some minimalist stone landscaping.
