Nick and Michelle Ward of Ohapi Fresh required the construction of a new vegetable processing and production facility. The project design brief included a specialised drying system for their onions.

Challenge

We designed the building in consultation with the team at PMR Grain Systems.  This consultation process advised us what concessions needed to be met to integrate the internal drying system. A tight construction timeframe was set to align with the seasonal nature of the operation.

Solution

The final 360m2 structure included the modular drying system, along with slatted floors to assist processing. A Tuatara Structures clearspan structural steel building was the ideal choice for this build, as it naturally enabled the special features to be constructed on the interior of the facility.
