This project was a joint venture between Tuatara Structures and client Ohara Investments who own the land, and Dynes Transport, the tenant. Dynes Transport were in need of a new truck workshop and office space as they had grown out of their previous facility. The site in Templeton, owned by Ohara Investments, was the ideal location for the transport business. We were pleased to present both companies with a concept and construction programme that suited all involved. Even better, we were able to complete the project two weeks earlier than scheduled – including variations.
The overall task was the design and construction of a truck workshop and office space. The design of the workshop had to incorporate a large service pit. The workshop space also needed to be sizable enough to accommodate multiple trucks for servicing and maintenance. This included three roller doors at each side (six total) for truck entry and exit. The positioning on-site was another key factor, as it had to be situated for easy access into and out of the building.
The final product was a 1,200m2 building; with 380m2 of this being the two-storey office space at one end. A roofed verandah, which wrapped around the building’s personnel entry, was a key design feature. The project included all earthworks and siteworks and the final office fit-out. The office space included a suspended ceiling, lighting, HVAC, and carpeting.
